An Engine That Works
Now that the rooms are empty their charm
has gone threadbare, only to be repainted a century or so later.
A cathedral of Tupperware works itself into the conversation.
A Rubicon remains steadily intact
wholly unaware of the impasse which surrounds it.
The entire structure consists of wood planks, weighs no more
than a human breast, paintings by Gros even.
The lodestar enables us to complete the project though fresher
more subtle tints were plotted on the same curve.
Portraits are really landscapes and vice versa,
a key lime sculpture, a red herring, a vegetal Burgundy
breaking up the world into things seen from under a parasol
and things seldom seen anywhere. All the world, everyone.
