Writing the Bible’s Footnotes

The palm grows a garden, the garden
births an animal speaking
between breaths.

The clouds hide eyes stitched to sky,
ever-open iris that watches,
takes notes.

The almighty, pieced together with pages
of leaves, lifted to heights by wind,
momentarily communed.

Mirror mass from ground, echo the symmetry
above, a scarecrow free of gravity.

Reading your diary’s pages
to nosediving birds.
